What is "Custom Content"?

What is "Custom Content"?

"Custom Content" is content that can be added to the IT Plan presentation or Word Report. It come in two forms:
  1. Rich Text Content
  2. Iframe content (e.g. PowerPoint / Google Slides presentation, Brightgauge dashboards)
Custom Content can also be either Account-wide or Company-Specific as both version exist.

Rich Text Content

This form of content is text content that be inserted as a screen in the PropelLive Web Presentation or as a section in the Word Report.
This is where the prior "Current Situation" and "Vision" texts are now located.

IFrame Content

An <iframe> is an HTML element to embed an external web page on another site. These can be inserted as a screen in the PropelLive Web Presentation. It is not available the the Word Report.
Common use cases are to include Dashboards coming from PowerBI or Brightgauge or whole presentations coming from PowerPoint or Google Slides.

Requirements

In order to be used as iframe content, the webpage must:
  1. Be directly and publicly accessible from a browser (i.e. no login / credentials / Authorization HTTP header). Query string parameters are OK
    ex. https://dashboards.example.com/dashboards/123456abcdef?k=some-query-string-parameter
  2. Allow embedding in an <iframe> from the "propelyourmsp.com" domain (see Content Security Policy and Sec-Fetch-Dest header)
Example of an Iframe Custom Content embedded in the PropelLive Web Presentation.

Custom Content and Report Templates

It is possible to save both Account Custom Content and Company Custom Content in Report Templates. When saving a template with Custom Content, the difference is that Account-wide Custom Content is available in all companies automatically, but for Company-specific Custom Content to be recognized, it needs to exist in the Company and have the same "key" initially created from its short title. If a Company-specific Custom Content is saved in the report template and missing from a Company, then the "Create Missing Content" button will be shown when loading the template.
