New Asset Categories for Better Client Presentations and Budgets
Creating asset categories in PropelYourMSP is a simple yet powerful feature that enhances your IT planning and presentations. Here are two key reasons why you should consider leveraging this capability:
Highlight Key Assets During Presentations
Custom categories allow you to feature specific sets of assets that are important to your client. For example, if you’re working with a professional services firm, instead of having a single “Laptops” category, you can create a dedicated “Partner Laptops” category. This way, during your presentation, you can address this specific asset set directly, anticipating your client’s focus and making the discussion more relevant.
Align Asset Policies and Budgets
Certain assets may follow different replacement policies or budget allocations. Using the same example, “Partner Laptops” may be upgraded more frequently or have higher replacement cost. Categorizing them separately ensures your budget and planning align with these unique requirements.
Step-by-Step: Creating an Asset Category
1. Select Assets: Choose the desired assets to include in the new category.
2. Click the Actions button, then select Move Assets.
3. Select Create a New Category.
4. Enter the desired name for your new category.
5. Optional: Base it on a template category to pre-load policies.
6. Customize Policies: Adjust the policies as needed for the new category.
7. Click Submit
Your new category will be created. The selected assets will automatically move to the new category and remain there for future use.
